A checklist for a trip to watch a football match
A practical list to plan a trip to a match: tickets, transport, what to bring to the stadium and what to check on the map before you leave home.
A trip to a match goes well when you plan it ahead. This list helps you not to forget the important things.
Before you leave
- Date and time confirmed. Matches get moved for television or other reasons: check again a few days before.
- Ticket bought through official channels. Avoid blind resale, and check whether the club asks for any details or documents to get in.
- Transport there and back. See what time the match ends and when the last trains or buses leave.
- Accommodation, if the trip lasts more than a day.
What to check about the stadium
Before you go, find out where the ground is, what’s around it and which gate your ticket is for. On Awaystamp’s map every stadium has its page with photos, capacity, club and upcoming matches, and a 3D view of the surroundings.
What to bring
- Your ticket, on your phone with battery or printed.
- Personal ID.
- A portable charger.
- Clothes for the weather: many stadiums are open-air.
- A small bag: many grounds limit what you can carry in, so check the club’s rules.
After the match
Log the visit while it’s fresh: stadium, match, score and a photo. In Awaystamp, that entry stamps your seal and adds kilometres and points.
